In 1944, Yamada-Ya stopped its business through house demolition by the government and Masami evacuated to Kooriyama-Hachiman. Receiving calling paper, he was drafted. At the end of the war, he was in Man-syu, and had been under detention in Siberia for couple of years. In the spring of 1947, he came back to Japan and had been in his hometown, Kooriyama-Hachiman for while.
